FAQ

IS IT JUST ONE REEF OR MANY PUT TOGETHER?

The great barrier reef is actually made up of over 3000 reefs put together to form the largest reef in the world and the only one to be seen from space. The many reefs combining to form the one huge one measure about 30,000 km squared.

WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP THE GREAT BARRIER REEF?

Many things can be achieved by the general public to ensure a safe and prosperous future for the great barrier. The most important action would be to raise awareness, a team action would benefit more than an individual action. Also donations to the animal charities such as the governement marine authority and WWF would help protect the reefs from over fishing and to enrich breeding programs and protection programs. Finally, as an individual effort, please be careful with your rubbish and waste. The less waste the better but dropping rubbish can be catastrophic to a marine environment miles away. As you probably know plastic especially is very hardy and tough to dispose of properly, well it can travel across many miles until coming into the range of a creature who can choke or be poisoned by it. This is a terrible fate and we ask the general public to make and effort and dispose of your waste properly.
